ABSTRACT

Emerging engineering education is a vital initiative to address the new economy's challenges and meet industry demands. This can expedite the nurturing of talents in emerging engineering education, with data literacy playing a pivotal role in this process. Data literacy is a crucial skill that emerging engineering scholars must possess. This paper briefly reviewed the background of emerging engineering education. Then, it constructed the data literacy evaluation system for emerging engineering scholars comprising six primary and 26 secondary indexes, including data cognition, data collection and updating, data processing and analysis, data utilization and archiving, data expression and communication, and data ethics. Based on this evaluation system, the study employed a questionnaire method to assess the data literacy levels of emerging engineering scholars. According to the survey results, this paper provides recommendations to enhance their data literacy abilities.
